About Cluster Sport Management

Cluster Sport Management (CSM) educates future sport managers within:

  • Sportkunde – Sport, Management & Ondernemen (SM&O) (Dutch)
  • Sport Studies – International Sport Management & Business (ISMB) (English)
  • Master Sport Business & Leadership (MSBL) (English)

We work from a shared educational vision in which sport functions as a real-world learning environment. Students develop professional responsibility by working on authentic management challenges in close connection with industry partners and the Professorship of Sport Management & Sport Business.

Our cluster integrates education, applied research and professional practice. We aim to contribute to the development of future sport managers who understand both the business dynamics of sport and its broader societal role.

 

Your role within the cluster

As Lecturer / Researcher within Cluster Sport Management, you contribute to Bachelor and/or Master education and to the ongoing development of our curriculum and research activities.

 

As Docent/Onderzoeker 2 (scale 11), you:

  • design and deliver practice-based sport management education;
  • teach in core domains such as management, marketing, entrepreneurship, project management and/or sport practice;
  • supervise student projects, internships and research;
  • collaborate within teaching teams to strengthen curriculum coherence and quality;
  • integrate applied research and professional practice into your teaching;
  • coach students in developing professional responsibility and reflective capacity.

 

As Docent/Onderzoeker 1 (scale 12), you additionally:

  • take final responsibility for substantial curriculum components or thematic lines;
  • initiate and lead curriculum innovation and quality enhancement processes;
  • play a leading role in applied research projects, including external positioning and acquisition;
  • strengthen collaboration between education, the professorship and the professional field;
  • contribute strategically to the development and positioning of the cluster within and beyond AUAS.

We are looking for colleagues who combine subject expertise with educational commitment and who actively contribute to a collaborative and reflective teaching culture.

 

Who we are looking for

You bring:

  • a Master or PhD in sport management, sport business, management or a related field;
  • experience in higher education or professional learning environments;
  • substantial professional experience in the sport sector e.g. manager, consultant, entrepreneur, policy professional or coach;
  • the ability to design and supervise applied, practice-based learning;
  • strong communication skills in Dutch and English;
  • a teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one);
  • cultural awareness and the ability to work in an international environment.

For scale 12 positions, we additionally expect demonstrable experience in curriculum leadership, applied research development and/or external collaboration and acquisition.

You are comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity and are motivated to contribute to the continuous development of our programmes.

 

What we offer

  • Appointment of 0.4 – 1.0 FTE (temporary contract)
  • Salary scale 11 or 12 (CAO HBO), depending on profile and experience
  • 428 holiday hours per year with a 40-hour working week.
