Here's how you will make a difference

Teaching
You will be part of the Engineering lecturers team where you will be teaching our year 2 to year 4 students in workshops and projects. You are comfortable with learning other subjects in aviation engineering and do not shy away from adding value to other courses or taking on activities outside of your comfort zone.

 

The basis of the Aviation Engineering & Technology track in the Aviation bachelor program focusses on providing students with a thorough understanding in aircraft structures & materials, systems and performance. The relation between design aspects and the creation of an effective maintenance strategy is also explored. Knowledge and experience on failure mechanisms, maintenance aspects and structural repairs is a plus.  

 

Research
In parallel, you will conduct applied research in ongoing projects and contribute to the formulation of new research proposals as part of the Aviation Engineering research team. You will strengthen the links between the research team, the educational program and our extensive industry network. Our research focus is ensuring that the sector has all the knowledge and insight it needs to transition to, and develop, more efficient, automated and environmentally friendly inspection and repair methodologies and practices. The applied research is conducted by undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and professionals from the participating industrial partners.

  • You will support both the design and operational teams in year 2 and 4
  • You will actively contribute to further enhancement of our curriculum
  • You will advice on body of knowledge and skills w.r.t. structures & materials.
  • You will contribute to setting up and managing the creation of new courses
  • You will maintain, expand and utilize a professional network to support the educational  and research program
  • You will conduct applied research with a focus on novel structures & materials inspections and repairs and contribute to the formulation of research proposals

 

Your other perks

  • A gross monthly salary between €4.013,- to €6.114,- (Hay profile Lecturer / Researcher, scale 11 of the higher education collective labour agreement), with a full-time appointment and depends on education and experience.
  • A temporary appointment for one year. Conversion into a permanent employment contract depends on demonstrated suitability, staffing and possession of a master's degree and the Basic Qualification Teaching Competence (BDB). The AUAS offers the training for this;
  • A year-end allowance of 8.3% and a holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary.
  • 428 holiday hours per year with a 40-hour working week.
  • Entitlement to various types of leave, such as (un)paid parental leave, care leave, adoption and foster care leave and various other arrangements.
  • A travel allowance for your commute, an NS-Business Card, your own AUAS bicycle or a tax incentive to purchase your own bicycle. If you are unable to use personal or public transport to travel to work, e.g. because of a disability, we will look at other possibilities together.

What you bring to the table

  • You have a masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or a relevant field of study
  • You have industry experience in structures & materials preferably in an aviation MRO provider or in a component manufacturing, testing or repair environment
  • You have affinity with maintenance related regulations and compliance
  • Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization are highly desirable
  • Educational experience in terms of teaching and course development and research experience in past projects is a plus
  • You are comforatable with direct teaching of content and are able to coaching students with a variety of didactical methods
