Are you skilled in industrial software and hardware, with a knack for technology? Are you passionate about industrial robot arms and smart factories, and want to help us operate and push our innovation lab even further? If so, the Robot Lab at the AUAS Faculty of Technology is looking for you!
We offer a job in a fast developing lab, with space for creativity and personal development. You will be part of a team with diverse backgrounds, pioneering in the field of digital design and manufacturing using robot technology and new kinds of (recycled) materials (i.e circular, bio-based, etc), for applications in various sectors (build environment, engineering, aviation). With your contribution we can help us create a positive impact through our research and provide hands-on learning and a future-proof education, better everyday.
Together with our educational staff you will look at the their course needs, and how to facilitate them in the lab. This can include explaining specific things to students, but also making sure the lab is physically ready to receive them. You will also interact with and advice researchers in the development of processes in the lab, which suit the needs of practice-oriented running projects. By maintaining the equipment you make sure nothing is missing and everything stays ready for action. In direct conversation with the lab lead and senior tech developers you will look for ways to make our lab even better. This can involve the purchasing and installation of new equipment, the development of new setups or simply optimizing the use of existing technology.

Here's how you will make a difference
As the administrator of the RobotLab, you have a versatile role. You ensure that our students and researchers can get the best out of the facilities every day and help to expand the lab’s possibilities for the future. You oversee the lab and assist students in working safely, while supporting your lab colleagues with technical questions related to ongoing projects. You are responsible for keeping the lab, equipment, supplies, documentation, and administration in good order. You are committed to staying in tune with (general) technical developments and work with other colleagues in updating the technologies used in the lab.
What will you do?
- Make sure the lab is safe environment to work and learn
- Keep an eye on everyone working or visiting the lab
- Organizing the lab and the equipment
- Making sure the stock of consumable is maintained
- Aiding in the development of the lab technology and ongoing applied research
- Documenting processes and tools in the lab
- Together with colleagues, plan the lab use
- Help students make good choices on materials & equipment
- Maintaining a safe and inclusive culture in the lab
Your other perks
- A gross monthly salary between €3,502.78 and €5,154.67 (Hay profile Instructeur praktijkonderwijs 2, scale 9 of the higher education collective labour agreement), with a full-time appointment and depends on education and experience.
- An end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8% of your gross annual salary.
- 10.7 holiday weeks per year with a 40-hour working week.

What you bring to the table
At AUAS, no two employees are the same. No matter who you are, you are sure to be a valuable addition to our team. You have a technical background and/or education at HBO level. You have some experience working in a lab environment with complex equipment. You understand both the technical and software aspects of these environments, and are able to connect them. You have the heart and mind of an inventor: you are creative in finding practical solutions, can put something together to quickly test a concept, and also build something more durable for frequent use. In other words, you work both with your hands and head, like an inventor. You can work in a structured and organized way, are helpful by nature, and can patiently explain things to students, colleagues, or external partners. Speaking and writing Dutch and English is no problem for you. You also possess:
- A technical background
- Experience with industrial automation & communication
- Familiarity or willingness to learn about robotic production processes
- Experience with CAD software (i.e. Solidworks, Rhino/Grasshopper etc.)
- Software programming knowledge or else basic knowledge and eagerness to learn (i.e. Python, Rapid, TIA portal, etc.)
